If you’re experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and don’t want another abortion, you have other options.
Parenting and adoption are alternatives to abortion. Here’s a snapshot of what choosing to parent or adopt can offer women.
Choosing to Parent
At first thought, choosing to parent a child can seem overwhelming. The late-night feedings, extra expenses, and learning to care for a child can be scary. But with the proper support and education, becoming a mother can be very fulfilling and rewarding.
Life Choices offers women free medical services as well as referrals for housing assistance, parenting lessons through BrightCourse, and infant supplies. Choosing to be a parent doesn’t mean taking the journey alone. Support is available!
Is Adoption Right For Me?
If you don’t feel ready to parent, adoption is another alternative to abortion. Women who choose adoption will work closely with an adoption agency.
The adoption agency will assign birth mothers an advocate who will walk them through the adoption process. As the birth mother, you will have the opportunity to review families and choose the right one to raise your child.
Birth mothers will also have the freedom to choose a closed, open, or semi-open adoption. These options allow you to remain involved in your child’s life or to be completely anonymous during the process. Every decision is up to you.
Like parenting, adoption does have both pros and cons. While it can bring joy knowing you chose a life of love for your child, some birth mothers also experience a period of grief and loss during the adoption process.
